Skid Control Training Course

Drivers will maneuver our Skid Monster and their cars through exercises laid out using orange traffic safety cones in the TRAC parking lot. They will experience each driving exercise several times, in order to learn from their mistakes and to improve their skills. A Police Driving instructor will accompany each driver to provide real-time feedback while performing maneuvers. There is no stopwatch, nor head-to-head competition with other cars. The drivers are here to improve their skills, not to compare themselves with someone else

All exercises are low-speed and our Driving Instructors are in the student's car at all times during these exercises. Safety is number “ONE”.

• Drivers will learn ten good driving habits that can prevent crashes.

• The Skid Monster is a relentless teacher that dramatically shows the consequences of poor driving behaviors.

• Drivers practice and maintain driving skills that keep them at peak level.

• Trains drivers to visualize the space their vehicle will occupy.

• Drivers learn advanced driving skills needed for vehicle control.

• Drivers experience why following distance is crucial to vehicle control.

Drivers will attend a short classroom presentation and take a written driving test. They will then negotiate a vehicle through a cone course to develop the skills of steering, braking, turning and hand position in a confined area and to develop the recognition of fixed objects in relationship to the vehicle.
